The Eighth Deadly Sin

As if seven weren’t enough

There’s an Eighth Deadly Sin now? Holy cow, why didn’t somebody tell me about this? Oh man, I’m in deep kimchi now. It was hard enough getting rid of the other seven, now you’re telling me I’ve got one I don’t even know about? Think, think, think, what am I gonna do! Oh, I’m well and truly in trouble now!

Hieronymus_Bosch-_The_Seven_Deadly_Sins_and_the_Four_Last_ThingsWhat’s that? Oh, there’s not really one? I get to make it up? Phew, what a relief! I’ll bet Hieronymus Bosch is relieved to, that he didn’t miss one in the painting he did back then.

Man, you really had me going there for a minute. I gotta sit down for a minute, let my heart rate go down. The Gates of Hell just flashed before my eyes! Old Beelzebub had a one-way ticket with my name on it!

OK, so I get to dream up the Eighth Deadly Sin. Well, that’s a pretty tall order. I’m not sure I’m qualified for the job. I’m not particularly religious, although I’m spiritual. I’m certainly not without sin (who is), but you want me to cast that stone anyway? I do try to live my life by the Golden Rule, so I try to make sure I always think about how my actions and words will impact others. I’ll see what I can do, but I’m not going to make any promises. Here goes.

Every thought you have, every word you utter, and every action you take impacts everyone around you. The Eighth Deadly Sin should be not considering how your thoughts, words and actions impact others. Don’t know what we’d call it, maybe Inconsiderateness? If we all stopped before we thought, spoke, or acted, and considered the impact on others, I think we might all live in a much better place. And some of us might not think, speak or act at all.

    1. Thank you. Thank you very much. And thanks for stopping by and reading. And for commenting! I’ll try to do my best on the whole considerate thing, if you will too. Maybe it will rub off on the rest. Here’s to a better place!
