The Music Critic’s Review of Rudy’s Ruminations

A bit of self-criticism

Once again, the folks at the Daily Post have asked me to don my music critic mantle and provide a review of “the subject you usually blog about.” So naturally I had to go back and see if there was a subject or a theme or even a thread that ran through my posts. Seemed like a good place to start.

Aztec_drums,_Florentine_Codex.So, what do you suppose I found? Well, if your anything like my other gentle reader(s) you probably know what I found. Zip. Squat. Nada. Bupkus. This catalog is the most random, eclectic bunch of hot mess that this reviewer has ever laid eyes on! Let’s take a walk through the wasteland that is Rudy’s Ruminations, shall we?

Early offerings in the paltry pantheon of posts should have provided us ample warning of what was to come. From the opening lines of the About page (“random thoughts of rudyblues in no particular order and for no particular reason”) to the foreshadowing Welcome post (“rumination, to think deeply, and to chew the cud”), it seems clear that this blogger should have stayed on the farm!

In reviewing the early work it’s clear that the artist is trying to find his way, albeit unsuccessfully, to a theme, or at least to a consistent tenor. However, the end result was a bit like wandering in the wilderness, with stinkers cow pies posts such as Some random ramblings and New Year’s Eve 2015 left out there to be discovered by future blog archaeologists.

Blessedly, the artist’s output was relatively sparse at this time , and with few views, the WordPress world was spared much of the damage that could have been inflicted upon it. But the artist hit a hot streak in early 2016, due in large part to a vow to inflict more damage upon the world through his keyboard. Unfortunately, the artist chose to stick to his random nature and respond to the Daily Post’s Daily Prompt, insuring a continuing stream of unrelated work.

So if random is you bag, or if you suffer from severe Attention Deficit Disorder, this just might be the artist for you! No two things alike, that’s what I always say!

  1. What matters isn’t the review. What people think of what you write isn’t what’s important, what’s important is that you wrote it. That’s the problem with a lot of blogs. The writers get addicted to their followers, addicted to the comments, comforted by their place on the internet. The posts become by-the-numbers, shop-front-profound but never quite real.
Happily you seem to have no problem staying true, capturing the real essence of the life you’re going through.
